The Flanders Audiovisual Fund (VAF) is a public institution of the Flemish Community dedicated to supporting the professional audiovisual and games sector in Flanders. Established in 2002 by the Flemish government, VAF operates from its headquarters in Brussels. Promoting a vibrant audiovisual and gaming culture within Flanders and internationally. (vaf.be ) To achieve these goals, VAF operates through three specialized funds: VAF/Film Fund : Co-finances the production of individual films across various genres, including fiction, animation, documentary, and experimental films. Eligible projects range from feature-length to short films. (vaf.be ) VAF/Media Fund : Focuses on co-financing high-quality television series developed in collaboration with Flemish broadcasters. This includes fiction, animation, documentary series, and cross-media developments. (vaf.be ) VAF/Game Fund : Supports the development of video games by companies based in Flanders and Brussels. This includes entertainment, artistic, serious, and educational games, providing financial incentives corresponding to various stages of game development. (vaf.be ) Beyond financial support, VAF offers professional training through scholarships, workshops, and partnerships with international training initiatives, allowing both emerging and established professionals to gain specific experience and confidence in fields such as scriptwriting, directing, and producing.
