The Centre Bruxellois d’Action Interculturelle (CBAI) is a non-profit organization established in 1981, rooted in the experiences of migration and exile, and driven by a civic passion for Brussels, a city-region that has become multicultural. (cbai.be ) Its mission is to actively promote intercultural relations in Brussels and Belgian society through training, information dissemination, cultural activities, and support to the associative sector. The CBAI is committed to combating all forms of discrimination and promoting initiatives that enable individuals and groups to build common life and action projects. The organization operates in various fields, including lifelong education and socio-professional integration. It also plays a significant role in supporting and evaluating public policies, particularly in areas such as social cohesion and the reception of newcomers. Since 2006, the CBAI has been designated by the Commission communautaire française (COCOF) as the Regional Support Center for Social Cohesion (CRAcs), responsible for evaluating the social cohesion system, supporting its various actors, and organizing annual thematic meetings. (cbai.be ) Additionally, the CBAI provides methodological support for cultural projects selected under the "La Culture a de la classe" program, which financially supports joint initiatives between schools and socio-cultural organizations. (cbai.be ) The CBAI's approach to intercultural action encompasses a set of practices, know-how, and both individual and collective initiatives that emphasize encounter, cooperation, and negotiation. It advocates for building bridges rather than walls, creating common areas of interest and identity, rather than highlighting civilizational conflicts. (cbai.be ) The organization is located at Avenue de Stalingrad 24, 1000 Brussels, and is open from Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM to 5:30 PM. For more information, they can be contacted via email at [email protected] or by phone at +32 (0)2 289 70 50. (cbai.be )
