DUO for a JOB

DUO for a JOB connects young job seekers from immigrant backgrounds with professionals over 50 through intergenerational mentoring programs aimed at enhancing their job market prospects. Each young job seeker is paired with a dedicated volunteer mentor aged 50 or over for a six-month period, guided by a reference coordinator. This structured mentorship fosters transmission of knowledge, listening, and exchange, helping to dismantle prejudices. The program is designed for young individuals of foreign origin facing specific challenges in the job market, while it provides an enriching volunteer experience for committed seniors. Mentors support one young person at a time, tailoring their guidance to the mentee's profile, needs, and aspirations. Access to quality facilities and ongoing coordination ensures effective support. DUO for a JOB's impact is measured through three key areas: the employment rates of young mentees, the satisfaction levels of mentors, and the formation of strong social bonds. The organization values diversity—encompassing gender, origins, age, and beliefs—as a vital resource for mutual learning, creativity, and innovation. It emphasizes action and initiative to achieve significant societal impacts while ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for all participants. With offices across Flanders, Wallonia, and the Brussels Region, DUO for a JOB envisions leading 10,000 individuals to employment by 2030 as part of the Mentoring Belgium coalition, which unites various mentoring stakeholders in advocating for mentoring as a fundamental strategy for social and professional inclusion.
