CAOBISCO is the Association of Chocolate, Biscuit, and Confectionery Industries of Europe, representing over 13,000 European manufacturing companies, 99% of which are small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Sourcing raw materials and manufacturing products responsibly from economic, environmental, and social perspectives. Influencing public policy at European and global levels through proactive and effective networking and communication with external stakeholders, using aligned internal policy frameworks to address current issues and develop positions on future matters. Enhancing value to members by addressing their needs through a transparent, timely, and efficient decision-making process on all non-competitive issues relevant to members' activities, making the best use of members’ expertise and commitment to optimize efficiency and aligned positions through collective engagement. This includes responsible sourcing, addressing challenges such as deforestation, improving transparency and traceability, and building fairer and more environmentally friendly supply chains. The association supports the competitiveness of European manufacturers by advocating for an improved integration of legislation and industrial policy at the European level, providing a flexible and business-friendly framework, particularly for SMEs, and ensuring sustainable access to adequate supplies of raw materials that are safe, of high quality, and competitively priced. They comply with numerous laws, regulations, codes of practice, and guidance governing the production, processing, distribution, retail, packaging, and labeling of foodstuffs. CAOBISCO has developed a Guide to Good Hygiene Practices, an information tool based on the HACCP scheme, the latest European legislation, and the most recent standards and certification schemes.
