All.Can International is a global, multi-stakeholder not-for-profit organization committed to enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of cancer care worldwide. By focusing on patient-centered solutions, All.Can aims to optimize resource utilization and improve outcomes for individuals affected by cancer. All.Can International actively participates in several EU-funded research and innovation projects, reinforcing its dedication to improving cancer care across Europe. These projects include smartCARE, CURTAIN, and 4P-CAN. In the smartCARE project, All.Can contributed to developing the 'Cancer Survivor Smart Card,' a digital tool designed to improve communication between cancer survivors and their healthcare providers. This initiative places survivors at the center of care, fostering empowerment and enhancing long-term quality of life post-cancer. All.Can's role involved engaging stakeholders, developing content, integrating diverse perspectives from its global network, collecting best practices, providing feedback on prototype tools, and supporting dissemination to ensure stakeholder engagement and high-quality outputs. All.Can also participates in the 4P-CAN project, a four-year European-funded Horizon Cancer Mission initiative. This project aims to improve cancer prevention and reduce inequalities by promoting innovative research activities involving European citizens. Within 4P-CAN, All.Can leads Work Package 6, focusing on the multi-stakeholder co-creation of cancer primary prevention policy recommendations. The project seeks to understand the complex systems surrounding individuals that increase cancer risk at macro (national), meso (community), and micro (individual) levels. It identifies barriers to adopting cancer primary prevention measures by studying risk factors such as smoking, alcohol consumption, physical inactivity, excess body weight, HPV and HBV infections, and environmental pollution. 4P-CAN gathers evidence around individual adherence to healthy behaviors in countries from Eastern Europe, including Romania, Bulgaria, the Republic of Moldova, North Macedonia, Montenegro, and Ukraine. The CURTAIN project aims to boost health literacy for cancer prevention and care across Europe. By providing accessible, easy-to-understand information, CURTAIN empowers citizens to make informed decisions about cancer prevention and screening, encourages patient involvement in treatment, and supports healthcare professionals in communicating more effectively. The project focuses on reducing inequalities in cancer care by improving health literacy among the general public, patients, and medical professionals. This initiative contributes to the goals of Europe's Beating Cancer Plan and the EU4Health Programme, supporting efforts to foster better health and equity throughout the EU. Expected outcomes include the development and launch of targeted projects that enhance understanding, accessibility, and engagement in cancer care across all sectors of the population. As part of the CURTAIN project, All.Can leads Work Package 6, which focuses on improving cancer literacy throughout Europe. As a global multi-stakeholder network dedicated to improving cancer care efficiency, these projects align with All.Can's objectives to generate, promote, and advocate for evidence-based, measurable improvements in cancer research, policy, and practice.
