CARE Belgium AISBL

CARE Belgium AISBL, established in 2014 as an international non-profit association, is dedicated to combating poverty and inequality worldwide. As a member of the CARE International network—one of the world's largest humanitarian aid organizations—CARE Belgium operates both emergency humanitarian aid and long-term development assistance programs. (carebelgium.be ) Currently, CARE Belgium is active in Belgium, Benin, Côte d'Ivoire, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Romania, Tanzania, and Togo. The organization implements ten projects focusing on promoting gender equality, women's rights and economic empowerment, food security, climate resilience, and providing humanitarian assistance in both natural and man-made emergency situations. (carebelgium.be ) All CARE projects are built on a holistic approach, intervening in complementary domains to effectively combat the interdependence of the causes of poverty. The organization involves all local communities for effective and sustainable action, placing women—who are often the first victims of poverty—at the heart of all its actions. (carebelgium.be ) The priority areas of CARE Belgium include women's and girls' empowerment, fighting climate change, and emergency humanitarian aid. By supporting the rights of all women and their access to the same resources and opportunities as men, CARE Belgium aims to change their lives and those of entire communities. The organization promotes women's knowledge, skills, and capabilities to realize their economic potential and supports women's collectives, such as Village Savings and Loan Associations, and women's rights organizations. (carebelgium.be ) In the fight against climate change, CARE Belgium empowers communities to adapt and helps populations protect themselves from climate shocks and disasters to create true climate resilience. Additionally, the organization provides emergency aid to populations affected by conflicts or natural disasters, responding to the increasing number of such events worldwide. (carebelgium.be ) The leadership of CARE Belgium comprises President Daniel Thierry and Secretary-General Odile de Saint-Marcq, who also serves as Head of Major Donors. The Board of Directors includes Pr. Dr. Peter Hellings, Amélie Mertens de Wilmars, Thierry Misson, Alexandre Morel, Grégoire Tolstoï, and Johan Swinnen. (carebelgium.be ) CARE Belgium is authorized to receive legacies and donations, which are essential for financing its actions according to priorities and needs. These contributions enable the organization to act quickly and independently to help the populations who need it most. (carebelgium.be ) The organization's headquarters are located at Avenue Louise 367, 1050 Brussels, Belgium.
