BELGIAN BREWERS

Belgian Brewers, with a history tracing back to the medieval guild system, stands as one of the world's oldest professional associations. We unite breweries across Belgium that aspire to organize their activities professionally. Our primary objective is to inform, support, and advise breweries established in Belgium on sector-related topics. By providing timely and appropriate information to our members and relevant government institutions, we ensure efficient and effective responses to challenges and events affecting our members. Our activities span national, international, professional, and interprofessional levels. 'Belgian beer' is a renowned brand symbolizing quality, diversity, passion, and craftsmanship. In light of global dynamics, rapidly changing societal contexts, and challenges such as declining beer volumes and rising costs, it is imperative to further develop and strengthen 'Belgian beer' as a generic brand in the coming years, both within and beyond Belgium. The craftsmanship honed over centuries of brewing, investments in new science and improved techniques, along with respect for beer and nature itself, form the pillars of the Belgian brewing industry. Belgian beer is more than just the liquid in the glass; it symbolizes passion, quality, and craftsmanship. The immense diversity and creativity of our Belgian beers make us unique and world-leading. Generation after generation, Belgian brewers have refined their recipes, leading to the vast variety that characterizes Belgian beer culture today. Belgium boasts more than 400 breweries and over 1,600 different beer brands. Our accompanying Belgian beer culture is also unique. It is deeply rooted locally and cherished by the Belgian people. Beer brings people together—friends and family, whether at home, in pubs and restaurants, or at festivals: there is a Belgian beer for every occasion. In 2016, our Belgian beer culture was rightfully included in UNESCO's Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, a recognition that Belgian brewers are still proud of. To experience Belgian beer and our beer culture firsthand, you can explore the rich history of our Belgian beer through an interactive experience trail at Belgian Beer World, visit the Brouwershuis, the headquarters of the Belgian brewers, or attend the Belgian Beer Weekend on the Grand Place in Brussels during the first weekend of September.
