PlayRight is the collective management society responsible for administering neighbouring rights for performing artists in Belgium. It collects, manages, and distributes royalties due from neighbouring rights of performers, including remuneration for private copying, equitable remuneration, and public lending rights. (playright.be ) Serving over 18,000 performing artists, PlayRight collaborates with nearly 40 analogous societies abroad to ensure comprehensive management of neighbouring rights. The organization is governed by performers who actively participate as shareholders in the General Assembly, which appoints the Board of Directors. This board comprises a Music College and a Drama and Dance College, reflecting the diverse artistic disciplines represented. (playright.be ) In addition to its core responsibilities, PlayRight established a socio-cultural and educational department in 2013, known as PlayRight+. This department aims to support performing artists and advocate for their interests within the sector. PlayRight+ offers various forms of support, including financial assistance to projects and organizations, grants to individual artists, educational initiatives, and political advocacy. (playright.be ) PlayRight's mission is to ensure that performing artists receive fair compensation for the use of their performances, thereby recognizing and valuing their contributions to the cultural landscape. By managing neighbouring rights collectively, PlayRight strives to uphold the rights and interests of performers in Belgium and beyond.
