Pistolet Original is a gourmet food concept dedicated to promoting Belgian products and traditions through the national bread roll: the Pistolet. We offer a diverse menu of pistolets filled or accompanied by local products and typically Belgian homemade recipes, available hot or fresh, in mini or original versions, at our Sablon boutique or via delivery. In Belgium, the pistolet is a cherished small round bread, split down the middle, with a soft crumb and a golden crust. Its name historically derives from its price—a pistole, an old coin—or from the weapon that identified soldiers to whom children distributed bread during wartime. The exact origin remains a mystery. Our menu features a variety of pistolets filled with or accompanied by local products and typically Belgian homemade recipes, such as prepared American bread, minced pickles, brown shrimp, fromage blanc with radish and onions, Gouda and chicory salad, mayonnaise meatballs, Liège black pudding, and suggestions like breaded chicken or a hot recipe straight from our kitchen. A seasonal salad, a selection of desserts, sweets, and drinks made in Belgium also complete our gourmet menu. Pistolet Original is a pleasant place, a grocery store, and a counter where you can share a light meal in a friendly atmosphere, in a contemporary and original setting. You can also take away all our pistolet selections, suggestions, and grocery products. Additionally, we offer delivery services to your workplace or home. Our boutique is located at Rue Joseph Stevens 26, 1000 Brussels. We are open Monday through Friday from 10:00 to 15:00, and on weekends from 10:30 to 16:30.
