Women in Tech®

Women in Tech® is a global organization dedicated to closing the gender gap and empowering women to embrace technology. Founded in 2018 by Ayumi Moore Aoki, the organization has rapidly expanded to over 65 chapters across six continents, with a membership exceeding 300,000 individuals. Headquartered in Paris, France, Women in Tech® operates as both a social enterprise and a non-profit organization, striving to impact 5 million women and girls in STEM fields by 2030. (women-in-tech.org ) The organization's mission is to promote inclusion, diversity, and equity in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) by empowering women and girls through various initiatives and campaigns aimed at bridging the gender gap in technology. This mission is pursued through four strategic pillars: Education : Building tomorrow’s tech leaders by equipping women and girls with the necessary skills for STEAM careers. Business : Unlocking economic opportunities by supporting women entrepreneurs and leaders in the tech industry. Digital Inclusion : Bridging the digital divide to ensure equitable access to technology for all women and girls. Advocacy & Tech Diplomacy : Shaping policy at the highest levels to drive systemic change and challenge gender biases in the tech industry. (women-in-tech.org ) Women in Tech® has received high-level institutional recognition, including the patronage of President Emmanuel Macron of France. The organization has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with UN Women and is a part of the Edison Alliance of the World Economic Forum. (women-in-tech.org ) In the United States, Women in Tech® is committed to promoting women and girls by focusing on education, business, digital inclusion, and advocacy. The U.S. branch aims to create vibrant local communities that provide women with transformational opportunities to connect, learn, grow, lead, build their brand, and give back. The goal is to launch over 25 chapters in local tech hubs across the U.S. and empower 150,000 women and girls by 2025. (women-in-tech.org ) Local branches in the U.S. are established in cities including New York City, Chicago, Connecticut, Columbus, Pacific Northwest, Northern California, Delaware, Miami, and Philadelphia-Wilmington. These chapters work to foster empowerment, diversity, and innovation within the technology sector through networking events, mentorship programs, and skill-building initiatives.
