PILOT4DEV (PILOT4DEV)

PILOT4DEV is an independent initiative dedicated to fostering collaboration among stakeholders to enhance sustainable development, social inclusion, and resilience. By identifying needs, addressing gaps, and promoting intercultural cooperation, the organization aims to create innovative solutions. PILOT4DEV operates with a multidisciplinary approach, engaging in key areas such as governance, dialogue, urban transformation, civic and women's rights, peace and stability, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Established in early 2018, PILOT4DEV functions as a network that collaborates with international researchers, NGOs, civil society organizations, practitioners, experts, and cities. The organization brings together enthusiastic individuals and pioneering initiatives, building upon previous cooperation and current projects. Recognizing the necessity to work across borders and disciplines, PILOT4DEV strives to connect the science-policy-practice interface by creating a network that combines research and action, akin to both a think tank and an NGO. The primary objectives of PILOT4DEV include promoting stability, governance, dialogue, sustainable development, and SDGs through multi-level action; combining research and action; proposing diverse narratives; strengthening existing actions; connecting multi-level stakeholders for knowledge exchange; and engaging in advocacy and decision-making processes. As a not-for-profit organization, PILOT4DEV primarily operates through grants. Within two years of its inception, the organization launched three EU-funded projects: Climate Resilient and Inclusive Cities (CRIC), Pilot 4 Research and Dialogue, and Life Adapt Island. PILOT4DEV collaborates with public and private organizations that share similar objectives. The organization's activities encompass those of both an NGO and a think tank, including projects, advocacy, events, analysis, information sharing, communication, and publications. PILOT4DEV comprises an Advisory Council and a Steering Board of active members who are consulted for the organization's management. PILOT4DEV emphasizes the importance of identifying needs, highlighting gaps, and finding experts while fostering trust. The organization employs various methodologies, recognizing that intercultural cooperation serves as a strong foundation for problem-solving, inclusion, and the development of creative solutions. PILOT4DEV believes that research and action are mutually reinforcing, contributing to the successful implementation of projects. The organization produces policy briefs, recommendations, and reports to improve policies, emphasizing that the involvement of local stakeholders is essential for effective advocacy.
